Activate Your TMPTEL eSIM on Android

Install your travel eSIM in under 60 seconds — Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and any modern Android phone with eSIM support.

Before you start

Install the eSIM before departure while on home Wi-Fi. The QR scan requires internet access. Once installed, the eSIM activates automatically when you land.

Google Pixel (stock Android)

    Settings → Network & Internet

    Open Settings → Network & Internet → tap SIMs (or the + icon next to your current SIM).

    Download a SIM instead

    Tap "Download a SIM instead?" → Next. Allow camera access if prompted.

    Scan the TMPTEL QR code

    Point the camera at your TMPTEL QR code. The eSIM profile downloads automatically.

    Configure default lines

    Set your home SIM as default for calls and SMS. Set the new eSIM as default for mobile data. Enable Roaming on the eSIM.

Samsung Galaxy (One UI)

  1. Settings → Connections → SIM Manager.
  2. Tap Add eSIM.
  3. Tap Scan QR code from service provider → scan your TMPTEL QR.
  4. Confirm and add. Configure default SIM for calls/data the same way as Pixel above.

Manual entry (no camera)

If you cannot scan the QR (e.g. single-device setup), use the LPA string:

  1. Follow the steps above to reach the QR-scan screen.
  2. Tap Enter code manually (or "Need help?" → manual setup).
  3. Paste the activation code from your TMPTEL dashboard (format: LPA:1$smdp.tmptel.io$ACTIVATION_TOKEN).
  4. Continue. The profile installs in seconds.

Tips for Android

  • Most Android phones support up to 7 stored eSIMs — old ones can stay installed but disabled.
  • On Samsung, you can rename each eSIM ("TMPTEL Spain", "TMPTEL Japan") from SIM Manager.
  • If data does not flow after landing, toggle Airplane Mode On/Off — forces re-registration.
  • Default APN is usually auto-detected. If not, contact TMPTEL support for manual APN settings.

Check eSIM compatibility

eSIM is supported on most Android phones since 2019, but not all. Check before buying: Pixel 3+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Note 20+, Z Flip/Fold, Xiaomi 12T Pro+, OPPO Find X3+, OnePlus 11+, Sony Xperia 1 IV+.

Can I move the eSIM to a new Android phone?
